"Iron Pot Big Bash
Sharks versus Jetty Jumpers
Coin flips.... Bring it on!"
Haiku by Grade 5/6 class
Nothing brings on the spirit of competition more than the Iron Pot Big Bash... the South Arm Sharks versus the Opossum Bay Jetty Jumpers, held at Calverton Oval every February. There have been many memorable moments....
It’s a six!!!!!!!!!!!! South Arm scored another six. The ball flies towards the red car reversed onto the boundary line. Mum puts down her beer, ready for the catch. It flies past dad (diving for the ball), into mum's outstretched arm. Applause erupts, loud enough to rattle my chest. Mum throws the ball back to the Opossum Bay bowler. She’s still sitting on a navy beanbag in the back of the red Ute.

...and everyone will remember the year that the weather was the winner of the day when the entire field had to scurry undercover as a violent storm threatened to carry off players for six...
Run off
Hailing hard
Bash... off!
